Tagata no Sankyo is located within the Kyoto Tanba Kogen Quasi-National Park. Ashiyu Forest, the source of the Yura River, is endowed with pristine nature and is also a habitat for rare plants and animals. In addition, the village, where many distinctive thatched-roof houses remain, gives a sense of the history of a life close to nature and a long history of traditional culture. The site is a 10-minute drive from Ashiyu Forest and Kitamura Village, Miyama Thatched Roof Village (Important Traditional Buildings Preservation District), the tourist center of the Miyama area, which boasts the highest rate of remaining thatched roofs in Japan. The site also borders the Yura River (Miyama River), allowing visitors to enjoy playing in the river.
